the estate of ch. reignac is located on the highest top of the parish of saint loubes.
overlooking a 140 ha clay and gravel rise that includes a single, 79 ha block of vines.
the original chateau was built by seigneur baude de peyron in the 16th century.
45 ha are for the great wine reignac, with small yields 35 hl per ha. bud thinning is practiced in order to ensure an optimum maturity important for the quality of the finished wine.
only grapes hand harvested at optimal ripeness, the grapes are picked by hand into shallow plastic lugs. these crates are taken directly to the winery sorting table on unique straddled trailers.
the must then undergoes a pre-fermentation, cold maceration. the malolactic fermentation takes place in new french oak barrels. aging continue in the traditional manner for 19 months which gives the wine a deep purple colour and a nose with notes of ripe red fruits.
75% merlot
25% cabernet
