although it only recently achieved formal recognition, the d.o. montsant, part of the historic region of priorato, has a long tradition of producing wonderfully robust, yet elegant, wines. the winery, celler can blau, is located in the quaint village of mas roig and has several vineyards in the surrounding hills. each vineyard was chosen for tis particular soil and microclimate. the cariñera was planted in sandy clay, the syrah in chalky soils and the garnacha on slate, known as llicorella.
the blend of thise three varietals with their distinct terroirs, produces a wine great depth, color and ripe fruit flavors with a long completx finish. (35% cariñera, 35% syrah & 30% garnacha)14.0 %
