translation château mouton rothshild 2006 label:
a first classified growth in bordeaux, château mouton rothschild is one of the greatest wines in the world. the estate is composed of 80 hectares of vines in pauillac within the médoc region, planted with the noble varietals of bordeaux. driven to the summit of excellence by the baron philippe de rothschild (1902-1988), who also created an area of art and beauty, today the estate is run by his daughter, the baroness philippine de rothschild.
since 1945, every year a famous artist deigns for the front label a freely conceived original masterpiece.
the 2006 vintage label was created by british painter lucien freud (born 1922), a well-known master of contemporary art. far from the portraits and tormented nude paintings that have made him famous, lucien freud chose for mouton 2006 a joyful, exotic translation of the pleasure of drinking, where the vine stock is bursting in the form of a palm and the wine lover is represented by the zebra drinking from the exploding fountain.
