among the great bordeaux appellations, the médoc region too is home to first-rate white wines, though not everyone is aware of the fact. thus, several acres of the mouton rothschild vineyards have been planted with white grape varieties " sauvignon, semillon and muscadelle " that have now reached maturity. from harvesting in open baskets to fermentation in new oak casks and château bottling, no effort has been spared to produce a high-quality white wine, made with the same meticulous care as a first growth and worthy in its richness and subtlety of its glorious elder. for this new wine, over which the good fairies have watched so assiduously, i have chosen the name aile d'argent, silver wing, in memory of my father, baron philippe de rothschild. why? because once upon a time he invented a fairy story for me which, night after night, weaved its spell over my childhood. to this poetic tale, penned during the dark days of the war and subsequently published, he gave the title aile d'argent. i wanted the name that once inspired my dreams to take on form and color for you as well, and the enchantment of words to become the magic of wine.14.0 %
