chateau d'armailhac a porte, de 1956 a 1974, le nom de chateau mouton baron philippe, puis de 1975 a 1988, celui de mouton baronne philippe. cree au xviii siecle par la famille d'armailhacq (ou d'armailhac), ce cinquieme cru classe en 1855 sous le nom de chateau mouton d'armailhacq, retrouve ainsi, pour une part, son identite d'origine.
voisin de chateau mouton rothschild, il en est pourtant bien distinct, tant par ses vignes que par ses chais et son cuvier. cet excellent cru possede ainsi sa personnalite propre qui sera desormais pleinement reconnue.
de mouton baronne philippe a d'armailhac, le nom a change mais sous une nouvelle etiquette, se perpetuent la complexite et la richesse d'un grand pauillac.
