benanti rovitello, etna rosso controlled denomination of origin doc/ bottled by the winemaker benanti s.r.l./ viagrande (ct) italia/ v.q.p.r.d. italia/ red wine/ vintage 2000/ bottled by benanti srl/ 750 ml/ 14% alc. by vol./ product of italy/ this wine is made from select grapes of nerello mascalese (80%) and nerello cappuccio (20%). the vines are grown on the volcanic slopes of castiglione di sicilia on the northern slopes of mt. etna at about 2,000-2,300 feet. the grapes, harvested between the second and third weeks of october, are uniquely indigenous, the pride of our sicilian land. rovitello, a full-bodied red wine, is aged in 60 gal. french oak barrels for about 12 months and is refined for at least eight months in the bottle before sale. excellent with red meats, games and seasoned cheeses. serve at 64 degrees f in ample goblets. enjoy!/ government warning: (1) according to the surgeon general, women should not drink alcoholic beverages during pregnancy because of the risk of birth defects.
