château coutet, one of the oldest sauternes estates, can pride itself on its prestigious past.its architecture dates from the english presence in guyenne, at the end of the 18th century.
in 1788 the estate was owned by m. gabriel barthélémy romain de filhot, président of the parliament of bordeaux, and stayed the property/ownership of the family for more than one century.
his grandson, the marquis romain bertrand de lur saluces, will become the most important producer of sweet wines of the world. classified as a first growth in 1855, the estate was recognized for its continued excellence and very high level of quality maintained by its successive owners.in keeping with the true tradition, the wine of château coutet is characterized by subtlety, combining style and elegance. it perpetuates the richness of a great sauternes.
