Table red wine
Douro
Portugal
750 milliliters
vt´06 simply stands for vinho tinto which translates to "red wine", and the 06 for the vintage, which obviously changes every year. it is a homage to the markings made on the big huge barriques used in the old times to differentiate which ones had port, red wine or white wine.
for example, port would have no marking apart from the year and the parcel it was taken from, as it was the main wine being produced. red wine would have the markings vt´06 (for example) and then the parcel.
white wine would have vb´06 and the parcel name, vb standing for vinho branco.
