the brand name "vad" was chosen for its simplicity and phonetic quality. research has yielded no specific meaning in any european language beyond an alternate shortening of the russian word "vadim" which means 'famous or great'. we are ok with the association if it should be made. the umlaut over the a is really just for aesthetics, although it is an independent letter in the swedish alphabet making a sound like 'e'. we intended the name as a proprietary name only and make reference to the usa as our country of origin.
