the heida (paien) is considered to be the "pearl" of alpine wines. it carries this name because its vines, planted up to 1150m over sea level in the county of visperterminen, make it the highest vineyard in europe. it is produced from the savagnin blanc varietal, characterized by small berries and low yield and reaching high sugar concentration. it is not unusual for a heida to reach 14% alcohol. this wine of a golden yellow color reveals an intense spicy nose with great acidity.
