front: malbec has been grown in the cahors wine area for more than 2000 years. this grape is worldwide known for its capacity to produce great wines, but also for its capacity to synthesize anthocyans - the natural pigments of red wines - in large quantities. in the middle ages, english people called the wine of cahors: "the black wine" because it was so rich in colours that it was nearly black. the latin word "pigmentum" which means "thing that gives colour" is at the origin of the french word "pigment": the natural oil of colour. so, we naturally called our wine "pigmentum" in order to remind its roman origin, its story and its colourful character.
