vendemmia 2005 (the best of the young vines)
during this vintage of 2005 we selected the best grapes from the young vines of the storied authentic grape of montefalco. favored by good weather, harvest began the first week of october to await the best natural maturity. trusting in nature, we do not use sulfites nor add yeast or any other process of stabilization to preserve the unique character of the grape. fermentation and maceration occurred over a six week period. this gives us a wine of distinct character. for 12 months the wine matured in stainless steel and then another 24 months in large oak barrels. a total of 9,120 bottles were produced.
