on the sunny lavic stones of the windy island of pantelleria, in the vineyards of costa, gadir, mueggen, khamma and martingana, my family cultivates traditionally the grape moscato of alexandria, popularly called zibibbo.
martingana is in the south of this small island in the centrum of the mediterranean. the low vines, planted in 1932, for the nature of the land, exposure and age, produce small grape bunches that are picked up in august selecting only those best ones and placed to wither at the sunlight upon some stone plates for the entire day, twenty " thirty days log, taking care of turning them manually many times over this period.
the grapes are then delicately pressed and the must so rich of sugar and concentrated of natural aromas, is left to ferment with some fresh grapes picked properly to adding fresh must to lets the fermentation start.
in this way is obtained a wine, which thanks to the particular climate of the birth zone and to the place of grapes withering, offers wonderful feelings, with intense spiced scents and dried figs, to a full and sweet and aromatic taste but absolutely not boring.
it"s an deal wine for dessert or for occasions where people congregate, which is the fruit of many sensations due to the particular nature of the island and to my careful and passionate work of vine-grower linked to the particular ancient tradition of the island.
