translation: at the castiglioni estate, there is a hill that has always seen the presence of numerous vineyards, testifying to the passion and commitment in wine producing of many generations of the frescobaldi family. these vineyards surrounded the above mentioned hill which, since 1287, has been called giramonte. the vines, replanted in 1993 with advanced techniques, at 5,500 vines per hectare, grow at an altitude of 250 meters, on a soil which is free, clayey, muddy, very calcareous, and poor in nutrients. the merlot and sangiovese grapes are made into wine and macerated in small vats of 50 hectoliters for about 20 days. after about 14 months in new barriques giramonte rests for a few months in the bottle. bottled by marchesi de frescobaldi.
