laws on vintage date and appellation for an italian spumante when the type of grape are all included in the label: as per art. 24 dm 7/3/2007: it is allowed to state the name of the grape variety(ie nebbiolo) when at least 85% of the spumante comes from it. in this case the spumante comes is 100% derived from nebbiolo. then, as per art. 18 reg. 753/2002: when 85% or more of the wine comes from the same grape type: it is permitted to insert the date when the grapes were hearvested; in our case the date of harvest is 2003. moreover as per the same article as above, mentioning an appelation of origin is subordinate to the insert of the name of the place where the wine was harvested for the v.s.q. wines or rather for the vino spumante di qualita' as is the case of the wine presented.
overall, the label shown by being a v.s.q. wine has to, by law, show the grape variety: 100% nebbiolo, a vintage dat: 2003 and an appelation: castagnole lanze, as they are all shown in the front label below.
