first growth of the bordeaux region, chateau mouton rothschild is one of the best known wines in the world. it has 80 hectares of vines located at pauillac, in médoc, with the typical grape varieties of the region. driven to the top by the baron philippe de rothschild (1902-1988), who also made a beautiful place of art and beauty, today it is run by his daughter baronne philippine de rothschild.
since 1945, every year, a famous artist designs the front label an original masterpiece of their own design.
the vintage 2007, was designed by the french sculptor bernar venet (born in 1941), known all over the world for his steel monumental lines, which alternate the geometrical austerity of straight or curved lines and the profusion of random coils.
the arcs he has drawn for mouton 2007 evoke chalices rooted in the earth and open, like vinestocks, to the precious gifts from above.
