back label:classified as a first growth in 1973, chateau mouton rothschild is now regarded as one of the world's finest wines. this achievement ws due to one man:baron philippe de rothschild who, in 1922, took the destiny of mouton into his own hands and mde it a place of art and beauty. his daughter philippine de rothschild has continued his work since his death in 1988. each vintage since 1945 ha been illustrated with an original artwork by a famous painter, creating a collection which includes the greatest names in modern art. for 1989, the german painte baselitz made a drawing, die mauer (the wall),subtitled "druben sein jetzt hier" (over there is now over here).he interprets the mouton ram emblem according to his personal "upside down" vision, associating it with the major event of that historic year: the fall of berlin wall, the prelude ot geman reunification.
