c'est pierre ducasse, qui, a la fin du 18eme siecle, a fonde ce domaine et lui a donne son nom.
le chateau, tel qu'il existe aujourd'hui, fut edefie vers 1820 sur les quais de pauillac, en face du large estuaire de la gironde.
le vignoble s'etend sur un terroir typique de graves, avec un encepagement compose de cabernet sauvignon (60%) et de merlot (40%).
les vins du chateau grand puy ducasse se recommandent par la plenitude du fruit, l'ampleur et la concentration des aromes, et leur capacite a vieillir longuement dans une bonne cave.

around 1820 he built the existing chateau on a plot facing the garonne estuary. the vineyard consists of three large plots in the commune of pauillac. planted on garonne gravel and silica, the vineyard is made up of 60% cabernet sauvignon, 40% merlot.
