this dry white wine is a traditional production of chateau fonreaud at listrac-medoc. the vineyard(2 hectares), situated at the highest point of the medoc region, is made up of:
60% sauvignon, 25% semillon, 15% muscadelle
the grape is patiently harvested by hand, in several times, pressed to be vinified and aged in barrels on fine lees until bottling.
this kind of vinification reveals the whole complexity of the three grape varieties particularly compatible to the terroir. the freshness of the muscadelle softens the exuberance of the sauvignon whereas the semillon brings roundness. if white wines have been produced for a very long time in listrac, this is not a coincidence...
