this is a red table wine
situated in the heart of burgundy, the celebrated clos de vougeot, of which the first vines were planted in 1110 by the monks of the abbey of citeaux, has itself been there since the end of the 14th century on a little more than 51 hectares that are entirely closed in by walls. sold at auction during the french revolution, clos de vougeot now belongs to over 70 proprietors. inside the ancient walls, madames j. labet and n. dechelette are the largest properietors. the five and one half acres of their vineyard surround the elegant chateau de la tour, which property has always belonged to their families. chateau de la tour is the only wine of clos de vougeot that is harvested, made into wine, and put into bottles within the same walls as clos de vougeot. it has the privilege of carrying on its label "mise en chateau" [bottled at the chateau].- Alcohol content
