chateau d'armailhac was named chateau mouton baron philippe from 1956 to 1974, then mouton baronne philippe from 1975 to 1988. created in the 18th century by the d'armailhac (or d'armailhac) family and classified as a fifth growth in 1855 under the name chateau mouton d'armailhacq, it has thus had part of its original identity restored. a neighbor of chateau mouton rothschild, it is nevertheless entirely separate, with its own vineyards, at house and cellars. an excellent wine, it has a distinctive personality which can now fully come into its own. from mouton baron philippe to d'armailhac, the name may be different but under a new label the complexity and richness of a great puillac remain unchanged.
