back label: included in the 1855 classification, chateau clerc milon was acquired in 1970 by baron philippe de rothschild and now belongs to his daughter, baroness philippine de rothschild. the clerc milon vineyards, planted with classic bordeaux varieties, are adjacent to thos of the lafite and mouton rothschild and stretch for 75 acres along the gironde. the wine, classi in style and with good ageing potential, is now considered equal to the best in its category. the label shows a figurine from the museum of wine in art, a pair of dancing jesters inspired by the commedia dell'arte. the work of a late 17th century german goldsmith, it once belonged to catherine the great, empress of russia.
