the french text on the back label reads as:
growth classified in 1855, chateau clerc milon was purchased in 1970 by baron philippe de rotschild; it now belongs to his daughter philippine de rotschild. the vines are planted with typical bordeaux varietals, next to mouton rotschild and lafite rotschild, on 30 hectares.
the wine, classic and with good ageing potential, is considered today as being second to none in its category.
the label pictures an art piece which can be seen in the mouton rotschild castle museum of the wine in the art: a couple of dancing buffoons inspired by the commedia dell'arte, crafted by a german artist at the end of the xviith century; it once belonged to imperatrice catherine of russia.
the seal on the front label is the seal of pfv (primum familiae vini) which reads as "leading wine families". it is an international association limited to a maximum of 12 wine families. officially created in 1993, membership is by invitation only and all decisions have to be approved unanimously.
