a cru classe of 1855, chateau clerc milon was acquired in 1970 by baron philippe de rothschild and is still owned by his daughter, philippine de rothschild.
the vines, planted to a traditional bordeaux blend, are contiguous to lafite and mouton and extend for 30 hectares along the gironde. its wines, classic and forward striving, is today considered, in its category, the equal of the best. the labels is a reproduction of a work from the "museum of wine in art" of chateau mouton rothschild: a pair of dancing clowns inspired by the commedia dell"aarte, produced in germany at the end of the 17th century and once belonged to the empress catherine of russia.
