in june 1978, guido valcanover of mala and lino andreatta of costasavina were traveling on the ss romea close to cesenatico. entering a stylish restaurant, they were seated by an aloof waiter with an oversized wine taster dangling from his neck. the two friends decided to play a practical joke and they asked the stuffy waiter for a bottle of blanc de sers. the sommelier, wearing a somewhat worried expression, consulted a colleague, disappeared into the wine cellar and returning with a mournful expression said: i'm terribly sorry, it appears that we have run out"
