benanti pietramarina/ etna controlled denomination of origin doc/ bianco superiore/ bottled by the winemaker benanti srl/ viagrande (ct) italia/ v.q.p.r.d. italia/ white wine/ vintage 2001/ 750 ml/ 13 alc. by vol./ product of italy/ this wine is made with select carricante grapes grown on head-trained vines on volcanic soil of the vineyards located in the commune of milo on the eastern slopes of mt. etna at about 3,100 ft. carricante is an indigenous, sicilian grape variety and its grapes are harvested between the second and third weeks of october. after the fermentation at controlled temperatures of 64 degrees f, the wine is left to rest at least one year on the yeasts, enhancing its bouquet and flavor. excellent with any kind of fish and shellfish. serve at 53-57 degrees f. enjoy!/ government warning: (1) according to the surgeon general, women should not drink alcoholic beverages because of the risk of birth defects.
