on his 1974 trip to france, david adelsheim arranged to have new clones of pinot noir and chardonnay sent to oregon state university. these arrived in 1977 along with the first true gamay noir plants to enter this country. the three clones of the latter were planted in our quarter mile lane vineyard in 1980 for testing. the resulting wines have always gone into our willamette valley pinot noir, but in 2007, winemaker dave paige kept the grapes for these 121 vines separate... we're kicking ourselves that we didn't do this sooner!
