(text on brand label may not be clear:) in 1907, while their wines were renowned as far afield as the royal court of england, the wine producers of madiran, a small village tucked away at the foot of the pyrenees mountains, noted the existence of certain neighboring wineyards, producing wines very similar to their own. rather than take offense, they welcomed them into their own "sacred union". this formed the basis of the madiran aoc as we now know it. today, 1907 is a tasteful tribute to the innovative passion and generosity of yeterday's winegrowers, to the delight of today's consumer. (foreign text on back label:) on november 17, 1907, the city council of madiran, met in their meeting chamber, overseen by mayor ludger nabonne, decided that all the wines harvested in the neighbor territories and reminds of the taste, color and principal quality of the madiran wines will from then on have the denomination "wines of madiran."
